What We Are
Pick Up Productions is a UK-based touring theatre company. We devise bold, exciting, family-friendly shows based on classic texts and perform them on the back of a pickup truck, for free, to communities struggling to access arts and culture. We work with artists from all areas of life and place a high importance of opening and offering opportunities to artists from alternative access pathways. We perform wherever the local community can get involved. From markets, high streets and residential areas to community hubs and spaces. We believe theatre should be accessible for the whole community to experience and enjoy.
We’re a Community Interest Company (CIC) subsidised by The Arts Council England. We’re a non-profit making organisation. All money received goes back into the growth and development of the company. We’re supported in our work by a board of trustees appointed by our founder, Alice Kornitzer.
Our Mission
Our mission is to make theatre accessible to all.
Our goal is two-fold.
1. To offer professional, free theatre to communities who are less able to experience the arts due to barriers such as low income and accessibility.
2. To employ those who are underrepresented in the industry and have a non-traditional training background.
To ensure we succeed we work towards the following objectives:
To build relationships with communities to increase community engagement.
Expand our tours to a national level, making professional theatre accessible to more communities.
Create a platform that represents these communities by producing theatre that reflects and voices their concerns, and highlights societal issues.
Familiarise communities with well-known plays and playwrights.
Craft an onboarding process that ensures creative talent from alternative access pathways makes up 50% of the company.
Provide a professional environment following Equity guidelines and rates.

Who We Are
Founder and current artistic director Alice Kornitzer has long been dreaming of a theatrical home for artists who have something to say about the world we live in. With Pick Up Productions they are seeking to connect artists with audiences who share in the spirit of community, culture and joy. The same goes for the work the ensembles create: working with Classical texts interwoven with original materials to interrogate and re-imagine the complexities that shape all our daily lives.
